Education and Experience

I am a Florida and New Jersey Licensed Psychologist who has been providing mental health services for over 25 years. I earned my Bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of Notre Dame, my Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and my Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Rutgers University. I completed my internship at Devereux Foundation in Malvern PA, a residential treatment center for adolescents with severe emotional and behavioral disorders. My postdoctoral residency was conducted at the CARES Institute, under the direction of the co-founder of Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I also completed Foundational Training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Radically Open DBT, and I was a member of a certified DBT Team for many years.

I completed my post-doctoral fellowship at the CARES Institute in NJ, where I worked under the direction of the co-developer of Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I have experience in a variety of mental health settings, including residential treatment, inpatient, middle and high schools, home-based, outpatient clinics, private practice, and college counseling centers. I also have experience teaching as an adjunct faculty member and providing clinical supervision to trainees and other clinicians.

Specialties

I am passionate about providing evidence-based, culturally sensitive, and empathic mental health care to all of my clients. My education and training, along with extensive experience in a variety of settings, has prepared me to work with individuals with a wide range of presenting concerns, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and significant life transitions. I also have particular interest and experience in working with clients who:

  • Have experienced abuse, trauma, or grief
  • Are engaging in high-risk or impulsive behaviors
  • Struggle with emotion dysregulation
  • Are recovering from toxic family environments
  • Are college students or  “emerging adults” between the ages of 18-24
  • Are members of marginalized identity groups, or who are trying to figure out their identity
  • Are first responders or members/veterans of the military

My Interests

Outside of work, I enjoy spending as much time outdoors as possible, usually camping, hiking, kayaking, or reading on the beach. I practice meditation and yoga, and I believe in the importance of mindful living as a path to inner peace. I like to set challenges for myself, like running marathons or climbing mountains or surviving 8 years of grad school. I also love to explore different cultures through travel and take way too many vacation photos. I’ve been to 46 U.S. states and 44 countries around the world, and I’ve managed to find Pringles and Coke Zero in all of them.
